Forthcoming Meetings

21 July Member Heather Flack – ‘Born in Bewdley – Stanley Baldwin’.
It is 100 years since Bewdley gave him the Freedom of the Borough. Heather will give an overview of his life and career while identifying the many contributions he made to the area where he was born. This follows a short AGM.
August Summer Break - No Meeting.
22 September Doug Smith – ‘Pirates of the Caribbean in the late 17th and 18th centuries” ’.
The true "Golden Age of Piracy" in the Caribbean roughly spanned the years from the 1650s to the 1730s. In war times, many countries utilised privateers — pirates officially authorised to attack enemy ships and coastal towns. During times of peace, these sailors often turned to unauthorised piracy. Doug Smith will be along to tell us all about it.
