All meetings are in the Corn Exchange in Kidderminster Town Hall
(unless otherwise indicated)

All meetings start at 2pm.  There is a small entry fee, payable at the door, which includes refreshments and a monthly raffle loosely linked to the talk!  All are welcome.

• Tuesday 25th February – ‘Alfred the Great: A King Who Rode Good Fortune’.
  How much did King Alfred owe his ‘greatness’ to Lady Luck? Max Keen pays us another visit to give his entertaining views on the subject, accompanied by all sorts of pre-medieval weaponry.

Programme of events for 2020

• Tuesday 24^th March – ‘History of the Acme Whistle’.
  Simon Topham will present us with a demonstration of the history of the world-famous Acme Whistle from the 1880’s to the present day.
• Tuesday 28^th April –  ‘History of Glass Bottles’.
  David Butler-Hollington, Vice Chairman of Darlaston Local History Society, will talk about his collection of glass bottles.
• Tuesday 26^th May – ‘Old Occupations’.
  Who knows how the alchemist, the badgy fiddler, the cooper and the wheelwright plied their trades in the good old days?  Richard Churchley will tell you, in addition to a few more.
• Tuesday 23^rd June – ‘When Kidderminster was Lengths Ahead…..”
  Michael Loftus tells the fascinating story behind the history of the town’s swimming facilities.
• Tuesday 28^th July – ‘The Kidderminster Shuttle’.Past-editor Clive Joyce will entertain us with anecdotes from his years spent at the helm of the local newspaper.  This will follow a short AGM of the Group.
